What we collect
The enquiry form collects your name, your email address, your phone number if you choose to give one, and whatever you write in the message. It reaches us as an email and is not stored in a database on this site.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs: IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of each request. These are generated automatically by the web server.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google the pages you view, an approximate location derived from your IP address, your device and where you arrived from.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use the details in your enquiry to answer you, to prepare a quote and to carry out the work you ask us for. The lawful basis is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
We use server logs to keep the site available and to investigate abuse or technical faults. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
We use analytics to see how the site is used and improve it. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how visitors reach and use it (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
We do not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we never sell them.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as there is a live commercial relationship, and for up to six years afterwards where we need it to meet contractual, insurance and tax record-keeping obligations. Server logs are kept for a short period, typically a few weeks, and then discarded.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Write to info@industrialweldingservices.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Storage and international transfers
Our providers store data in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area wherever possible. Where data is processed outside it — Google Analytics processes in the United States — we rely on the safeguards permitted by the applicable data protection law, such as an International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. The date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised.
